Hazardous heat continues to impact our region, with daytime highs climbing into the mid to upper 90s and heat indices soaring above 100°F. Even overnight, temperatures are offering little relief—lows are struggling to drop below 75°.

In these conditions, it’s more important than ever to be aware of the dangers of heat-related illnesses. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke can happen quickly and without warning, especially when spending extended time outdoors.

We encourage everyone to take a few moments to review the signs and symptoms of heat-related illness. Knowing what to look for—and how to respond—could save a life.

Tips to Stay Safe:

  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
  • Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
  • Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day.
  • Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
  • Check in on elderly neighbors or those without adequate cooling.

If you or someone around you begins showing signs of confusion, nausea, dizziness, or stops sweating in the heat—call 911 immediately. Rapid recognition and treatment are critical.

Stay cool, stay safe, and look out for one another. Your health and well-being matter.
