The Johnson County Ambulance District (JCAD) Training Center is committed to providing high-quality education and hands-on training for both emergency professionals and members of the community. In addition to its accredited Paramedic and EMT programs, the Training Center offers a wide range of specialized courses designed to enhance life-saving skills and professional development.

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)

The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations, and provide early use of an AED.

AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

The AHA’s ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of continuous, high-quality CPR. Reflects science and education from the AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC.

Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS)

Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) remains the gold standard of education for emergency medical assessment and treatment. Endorsed by the National Association of EMS Physicians, AMLS emphasizes the use of the AMLS Assessment Pathway, a systematic tool for accurately assessing and managing common medical conditions with urgency.

Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC)

The Emergency Pediatric Care (EPC) course focuses on critical pediatric physiology, illnesses, injuries, and interventions to help EMS practitioners provide the best treatment for sick and injured children in the field.

Emergency Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS)

NAEMT’s EMS Vehicle Operator Safety (EVOS) course addresses the knowledge gap that leads to injuries and deaths, and focuses on the specific behaviors that need to be changed to create a culture of safe driving.

Geriatric Education for EMS (GEMS)

NAEMT’sThe Geriatric Education for EMS course prepares prehospital practitioners to respond to, assess, and care for the rapidly growing patient population of older adults.

Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC)

TECC course equips EMS professionals and other prehospital providers with the skills to deliver life-saving care in high-threat, civilian tactical environments. This immersive training focuses on triage, treatment, and transport of critically injured patients, preparing participants to respond effectively in challenging and unpredictable situations.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

PALS is geared towards healthcare providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children, and for personnel in emergency response, emergency medicine, intensive care, and critical care units. Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)

NAEMT’s Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized around the world as the leading continuing education program for prehospital emergency trauma care. The mission of PHTLS is to promote excellence in trauma patient management by all providers involved in the delivery of prehospital care.
